My Lord,
Government Civil Hospital, Hong Kong,
December 8th 1890.
I have the honor to address Your Lordship with regard to the allusion to Your Lordship's Despatch, 8 para: No. 12, 1.2 of No. 110 dated 19th June 1890, respecting the increase of salaries of Public Officers, which I have seen in the Public newspapers Council, having been discussed in.
With all due submission, I ask to be allowed to bring my case to Your Lordship's notice, as I cannot believe that you are aware of how much work is required of the Officer holding the post of Colonial Surgeon in this Colony, as compared with other Colonies, its importance, and how inferior its advantages are.
The Right Honourable
Gle
Lord Knutsford G.C.M.G.
Secretary of State for the Colonies
